Vaishali Sharma is a graduate of Sir JJ College of Architecture, Mumbai — one of India's oldest and most respected institutions for architectural education, where she developed the rigorous, research-led sensibility that defines her practice. She co-founded FD Design in 2000 alongside Raghu Sharma, establishing a practice that would spend twenty-six years building a reputation for work that is rooted in context, sensitive to the human condition, and genuinely responsive to the lives of the people it is designed for.

Her practice centres on the residential and interior design work of FD Design — the domain in which the firm's Fourth Dimension philosophy is perhaps most directly expressed. To design a home well is to understand a family: how they move through space during different parts of the day, how they seek privacy and how they gather, what quality of light matters in the morning versus the evening, how the relationship between inside and outside shifts across seasons. These are not questions that can be answered from a distance. They require sustained conversation, patient listening, and the willingness to design from the client's life rather than from the designer's aesthetic preference.
