Private Homes. Designed around the people who will live in them.
For more than 25 years, FD Design has designed private homes across Delhi, NCR and North India, from urban plotted residences and premium apartments to large family homes, villas and private estates.
We begin not with a style, but with the family, the property and the life the home needs to support over time.
What kind of home are you planning?
Different properties create different architectural questions. A 300 sq yd Delhi home cannot be planned like a 1,200 sq yd NCR residence, and neither should be approached like a premium apartment or a multi-acre estate.
A private home is a system.
A home is not created by designing rooms independently.
How a family lives affects planning. Planning affects structure. Structure affects services. Openings affect light, privacy and climate. Landscape changes how rooms are experienced. Materials influence maintenance. Technology affects infrastructure.
And all of these decisions need to continue making sense as the family changes.
Specialists solve their parts. Our role is to protect the whole.
Selected Private Homes
Homes of different scales and contexts, connected by the same principle: architecture should respond to the people, property and life it is designed for.
Designing a Private Home
50 decisions worth thinking about before you build.
A private residence involves hundreds of decisions, many of which become expensive or impossible to change once construction begins.
Over more than 25 years of designing homes, we have learnt that the most important questions often come before the drawings. This knowledge library brings those questions together.
Five categories = kinds of homes · Eight chapters = areas of architectural thinking
Questions worth asking before you build.
Individual essays from the library. Each links to the homes where the idea applies and to the FD Design projects that show it.
One home. One architectural conversation.
On substantial private homes, these are not three independent exercises. Decisions in one continuously affect the others.

Architecture
Planning, form, structure, light and relationship with the site.

Interiors
Spaces, materials, furniture, lighting and everyday experience.

Landscape
Arrival, gardens, courtyards, outdoor living and the relationship between building and land.
Design does not end with the presentation.
A private home is ultimately built through thousands of decisions taken across drawings, consultants, contractors, vendors and site conditions.
Our work extends from concept and planning through detailed drawings, coordination and construction-stage design involvement, helping protect the original architectural intent as the project moves towards reality.

Designing homes since 2000.
FD Design was founded by architects Raghu Sharma and Vaishali Sharma in 2000.
Over more than 25 years, residential work has remained central to the practice, from compact urban plots to large family residences and private estates.
That experience has reinforced a simple belief: a home should not merely look complete on the day it is photographed. It should continue to work as the family, landscape, technology and life around it change.

Substantial private residences are led jointly by both principals, from the first conversation to the finished home.
We design a house once. The family experiences it thousands of times.
The true test of residential architecture is not the day it is completed, but how naturally it continues to support life over time. The fourth dimension is time.
Planning a private home?
Whether you are considering a Delhi plot, a larger NCR residence, a premium apartment or a private estate, the most useful architectural conversations usually happen before too many decisions have already been made.
